NEWSLETTER - MARCH 2018
RE-BOOKING FOR THE APRIL COURSE:
Those who wish to enroll for the next course, who are remaining at the same level and are happy with the same day and time may enroll directly into the same class at the desk on the day the assessment form is received. If your child has moved level please complete an enrolment form – all forms are at the desk. If your child is remaining at the same level but you wish to change time or day you will also need to complete an enrolment form. Please ensure all forms are completed and returned on the day the assessment form is received.
A copy of the new timetable is available either on the notice board or left on the chairs around poolside. A copy is also available to view on the website. All assessment forms will be handed out at the beginning of each lesson. Anyone who cannot return the form on the day should email to the address noted below or text on 0794 173 8984 with the 3 preferred options. The enrolment options MUST reach me before Thursday 15th March @ 9am. (any received after this day and time I would not be able to guarantee that we could accommodate).

COMPLETING THE ENROLMENT FORM
When completing your options of new classes; if we are unable to accommodate the times you ask for we will text you on the 15th and offer the classes that we still have spaces in. Please bear in mind that some classes are more popular than others ( week days early) and if you list only these times it is quite possible you may not get your options. The more flexible you are able to be the easier it is for us to be able to accommodate everyone. Please also note on the form if you are tying in with a sibling and what time their lesson is. All those who complete an enrolment form will be sent a text on Thursday afternoon 15th March stating the day & time of their childs next course of lessons starting January. All those who enrol at the desk on the day the assessment form is given will not receive a text as the place is confirmed directly you rebook.
PAYMENT
Places will be held after reserving a space in a class until the following week to allow you time to make payment. Any spaces that have been reserved and not paid for by Monday 26th March will receive a text to remind them of payment. ANY PAYMENTS NOT RECEIVED BY THE LAST DAY OF THE TERM – WEDNESDAY 28TH MARCH WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE CLASS LISTS WITH NO FURTHER CONTACT.
We fully appreciate that some parents with more than 1 child may wish to stagger payments and we are quite open to this option. Please make your intentions known before the end of term if you wish to make alternative arrangements. Otherwise your child will be removed from the class lists and not be expected at lessons the following term. Please note that the preferred option of payment is either BACS or cash. Cost of 13 week course £113.10
PRICE INCREASE
We have not made an increase in price for over 2 years but it is now necessary to do so. The increase allows us to keep the staff ratios as they are currently and keep up with pool costs. The price will raise from £8.30 per lesson to £8.70 an increase of £5.20 per child over the term. We will still operate a 15% discout for those families who have 3 or more children swimming with us. We hope you all consider this acceptable.
HALF TERM & BANK HOLIDAYS
We will run lessons as usual through the next half term Monday 28th May – Friday 1st June. We will also run lessons as normal on Monday 7th May (bank holiday)
STAFF CHANGES
Phoebe, who has been with us for 8 years has recently qualified as a nurse and will be starting full time work at St Thomas’s hospital in Central London as a theatre nurse. Phoebe started with us at a young age and developed her swimming career to a very high standard qualifiying not only in teaching children but also adults, babies and those with disabilities. She will be very much missed by as all as she has been such an asset to the swim school. We all wish her the very best in her new career.
From the start of next term Lauren (who has assisted with Phoebe on Wednesdays for a few years and is familiar with a majority of the pupils) will take over the teaching of the lessons working on the first 4 stroke lessons in the deeper end of the pool and then the last 3 beginner classes in the shallower end of the pool. Lauren is an experienced instructor having also developed her teaching career with us over the years. She currently teaches on a Saturday morning and is looking forward to taking on Phoebes classes.
Jasmine – also a fully qualified instructor (who many years ago learnt to swim with us!) will be taking on the role as assistant to Lauren. Jasmine currently works on a Sunday morning with us.
GAME CONSOLES
Over the past term we have noticed a number of children who are not swimming, playing on game consoles whilst their sibling is having a lesson. Although this is absolutely fine may we respectfully ask that the volume control is kept low or head phones are worn. It can be quite distracting for the pupiils in the classes (and the instructors) if there is a continual noise in the background.
EATING ON POOLSIDE
Sorry to mention this but can we remind all parents that food should not be consumed within the pool premises. Any food that is inadvertently spilt on the poolside can end up in the pool itself which can be quite off putting for those in the pool and can also put the chemical levels out of sync. If your children do need a snack then can we suggest it is either eaten on the way home or your child is taken out to the car to eat. We hope you understand this is in the best interests of our pupils.
WEB SITE
Please check the website for up-to-date information including term dates, a copy of the newsletter and the list of all pupils who have received the Certificate of Achievement from each class.
FUN WEEK
The last week of term is fun week and your child may come along to ANY one of the sessions listed below on the half hour. No pupil will be able to join in midway between sessions. We will adhere to maximum bather load which means that when we reach 35 pupils in a session we will have to ask those that arrive after that number has been reached to wait for the next session to start (this doesn't happen very often!). PLEASE NOTE THE BUSIEST SESSIONS TEND TO BE THE EARLIEST TIMES
The times are as follows:
Saturday 24th March, First session 9.00am - Last session 10.30am
Sunday 25th March, First session 9.30am - Last session *10.00am *NOTE: SUNDAY FUN SESSION WILL BE TWO SESSIONS ONLY - 9.30am & 10am
Monday 26th March, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
Tuesday 27th March, First session 5.00pm - Last session 5.30pm
Wednesday 28th March, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
May I take this opportunity on behalf of all the instructors and assistants to wish you a very Easter. We look forward to seeing you all next term.
Best Wishes,
Anne
