NEWSLETTER - DECEMBER 2020
Well this has certainly been a very strange year for all of us. We would like to thank all of our customers for their understanding and support in all the changes we have implemented to make the pool a safe and secure place for the children to swim. You have all been amazing in your compliance and understanding of the measures we have put in place. Without you and your support the swim school could not have kept operational. So from all of us 'Thank you'. With the new vaccine looking promising in the near future let us hope and pray that we are now nearing the end.
Enrolment this term was quite different as it had to take place during a lockdown but again with your great response to the many messages I've been sending out we managed to complete it reasonably well. Over the next term I cannot see that we are going to be able to relax any of the measures we have put in place but we have thought of a couple of adaptations that we hope will please everyone.
Currently we are having to ask all the parents to leave the pool during the lesson time and we understand that many of you are missing being able to watch your child and see their progress. We have therefore decided this term to add in a couple of 'watching weeks'.
To be able to cater for everyone and still keep social distancing in place we will only be able to accommodate 1 adult per pupil to attend the watching week. We will also have to split the weeks with one week being for the shallow end groups and the following week being for the deep end groups. We anticipate that this will work as follows:
- All shallow end groups will have their 2 watching weeks:
- Saturday 16th – Wednesday 20th January
- Saturday 13th February – Wednesday 17th February
- All deep end groups will have their 2 watching weeks:
- Saturday 23rd – Wednesday 27th January
- Saturday 20th February – Wednesday 24th February
We understand that a number of pupils last term had to self isolate due to possibly being in contact with an infectious person. This of course meant that they could not come swimming. What we anticipate introducing next term is that if your child is unfortunate enough to have to self isolate, if you notify us immediately we will do our best to offer you make up lessons for the 2 weeks missed. We will only be able to do this once for each pupil during the term and no monies will be able to be carried over for the next term. We hope this will help you all and assist your childs continued swimming development.
Last 2 weeks of this term – Badges & Certificates
We were very pleased that we were able to reopen the end of this year to allow us to have 2 weeks worth of swimming and as the pupils had all been placed for next term we felt it would be appropriate that they covered all the awards available in each level.
Badges and certificates can be ordered on your return to the pool for collection of your child (this will prevent cross over of our one way system). Payment for these should be made via bacs and the cost is £3 per badge and certificate. If you order on the first week and payment is received then the certificates will be available for you to collect on the final week. Any ordered on the second week will be ready on the first week of the following term.
Costs for next term
When we closed for the lockdown each pupil was owed 5 weeks of lessons. We have managed to complete 2 at the end of this term so the swim school now owes each pupil 3 lessons. We intend to start the January course a week earlier than we had anticipated which will make next term a 13 week course @ a cost of £117.00. With the deduction of the 3 owed weeks this will make the cost £90.
The pool membership of £10 PER FAMILY will also be due so the total cost (for most customers) will be £100. Please remember the membership is per family so this only needs to be paid once. If you have 2 children swimming with us the cost would be £90 x 2 + £10 = £190.
I will not be asking for any monies before the start of next term and I intend, once we restart to message everyone individually to tell them the balance due. I hope this is ok with everyone.
TERM DATES:
The next course will start from Saturday 2nd January – Wednesday 6th January and run for the following 13 weeks with the last date of the course being Saturday 27th March – Wednesday 31st March.
We will run lessons as usual through the half term and each weekend either side of that week.
HATS
We have been fairly relaxed this term with hats but once we start again in January can we ask that every pupil has a PLAIN blue hat (for beginner classes including beginner 3 and 4) and a black hat for the stroke classes backcrawl, frontcrawl and breastroke. These are available to purchase from us if you wish to.
We would also like to mention that during these times we are not supposed to loan out hats or goggles so if you could be mindful of ensuring your child comes fully equipped to the lessons with their hats and goggles in place it would be much appreciated.
May I take this opportunity on behalf of all the instructors to wish you a very Happy Christmas and a better New Year and we look forward to seeing you all next term.
Best Wishes,
Anne
