NEWSLETTER - JULY 2023
As we approach the end of this current term there are a few things I would like to bring to your attention. Firstly please note below the enrolment process for the next term.
RE-BOOKING FOR THE SEPTEMBER COURSE
Those who wish to enroll for the next course, who are remaining at the same level and are happy with the same day and time may enrol directly into the same class at the desk on the day the assessment form is received. If your child has moved level please complete an enrolment form – all forms are at the desk. If your child is remaining at the same level but you wish to change time or day you will also need to complete an enrolment form. Please ensure all forms are completed and returned on the day the assessment form is received. A copy of the new timetable is available either on the website, notice board or at the desk. All assessment forms will be handed out at the beginning of each lesson. Anyone who cannot return the form on the day should email to the address noted above or text on 07305 285575 with the 3 preferred options. The enrolment options MUST reach me before Sunday 9th July @ 9am. any received after this day and time I would not be able to guarantee that we could accommodate.
COMPLETING THE ENROLMENT FORM
When completing your options of new classes; if we are unable to accommodate the times you ask for we will text you on the 9th and offer the classes that we still have spaces in. Please think carefully about the times you are putting down as your options. The classes fill very quickly and leave us little room for moving pupils, if you realise that the class you requested actually isn’t suitable after all. Some classes are more popular than others and if you list only these times (but on separate days) it is quite possible you may not get your options. The more flexible you are able to be the easier it is for us to be able to accommodate everyone. Please also be aware that if you only note 1 option of time and we cannot immediately accommodate that day and time, then you will only be offered classes that we have spaces left in at the end of the day once everyone else has had their class allocated. Please also note on the form if you are tying in with a sibling and what time their lesson is.
PAYMENT
Places will be held after reserving a space in a class until the following week to allow you time to make payment. ANY PAYMENTS NOT RECEIVED BY THE LAST DAY OF THE TERM – WEDNESDAY JULY 19TH WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE CLASS LISTS WITH NO FURTHER CONTACT.
We fully appreciate that some parents with more than 1 child may wish to stagger payments and we are quite open to this option. Please make your intentions known before the end of term if you wish to make alternative arrangements. Those who have 3 pupils swimming with us and receive the 15% discount and who wish to stagger payments should make total payment for one child before the end of the current term . Fees should be paid for by either BACS or cash.
TERM DATES
The cost for the 14 week course nest term is £142.80. The membership fee of £10 per family (you only pay this once not for each child) is also due. Therefore the full cost is as follows:
- For 1 child - £142.80 + £10 membership = £152.80
- For 2 children £142.80 x 2 (£285.60) + £10 membership = £295.60
- For 3 children £142.80 x 3 (£428.40) less 15% discount (£64.26) + £10 membership = £374.14
FAMILY MEMBERSHIP
The annual family membership fee of £10 per family is due at the end of this term together with the swimming fees.
HALF TERM
The next course will start from Saturday 9th – Wednesday 13th September and run for the following 14 weeks with the last date of the course being Saturday 9th – Wednesday 13th December.
We will run lessons as usual through the half term Monday 23rd – Friday 27th October and each weekend either side of that week.
SWIMMING ATTIRE
Please ensure that if your child is moving to a Beginner 4 class that they change the colour of their hat from a blue to a black. All pupils should wear either a blue hat (for those in the shallow end of the pool) or black hat (for those in the deeper end of the pool). All other colours are not acceptable. This is for the safety of your children so we can immediately distinguish what end of the pool all pupils are due to swim in.
Please make sure your child has an appropriate swimming costume/ trunks. Beach suits are not suitable, a simple one piece costume for a girl and trunks for a boy are the best type of swimwear. Any girls who wear more clothing due to religious reasons should only use these clothes for swimming. Leggings and a t shirt is not really appropriate.
A note from the instructors – could you ensure that your child come to poolside with their hats and goggles in place.
GOGGLES
The instructors have also asked that it be mentioned that you spend time considering the best goggles for your child. The idea of the goggles is to stop the water going into the eyes and make it more comfortable for your child to swim. The goggles will not work if they do not fit properly. As a rough guide the goggles that have characters on the eye piece or those that are more like scuba goggles are not usually suitable for swimming lessons. If you have a child with a small face then a smaller set of goggles is appropriate and if older then the goggles need to be larger around the eye socket. A number of children cannot swim to the best of their ability if they are having to contend with leaking goggles.
BADGES AND CERTIFICATES
Over the next couple of weeks all pupils will be working towards the badges and certificates available at the level of their class. If you wish to purchase any certificates then please go to the desk where we can order them for you. Certificates do have to be paid for in advance as we print them. The cost of a Badge and Certificate is £3.50.
WATCHING WEEKS NEXT TERM
The watching weeks next term will be as follows:
First watching week: Sat 30th September – Wed 4th October.
Second watching week: Sat 4th – Wed 8th November.
WEB SITE
Please check the website for up-to-date information including term dates, a copy of the newsletter and the list of all pupils who have received the Certificate of Achievement from each class.
FUN WEEK
The last week of term is fun week and your child may come along to ANY one of the sessions listed below on the half hour. No pupil will be able to join in midway between sessions. We will adhere to maximum bather load which means that when we reach 35 pupils in a session we will have to ask those that arrive after that number has been reached to wait for the next session to start (this doesn’t happen very often!).
PLEASE NOTE THE BUSIEST SESSIONS TEND TO BE THE EARLIEST TIMES
The times are as follows:
Sunday 16th July, First session 9.00am - Last session 9.30am
Monday 17th July, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
Tuesday 18th July, First session 5.00pm - Last session 5.30pm
Wednesday 19th July, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
Saturday 22nd July, First session 9.00am - Last session 10.30am
May I take this opportunity on behalf of all the instructors and assistants to wish you a very Happy Summer. We look forward to seeing you all next term.
Best Wishes,
Anne
