COMPLETING THE ENROLMENT FORM
When completing your options of new classes; if we are unable to accommodate the times you ask for we will text you on the 6th and offer the classes that we still have spaces in. Please bear in mind that some classes are more popular than others (week days early) and if you list only these times it is quite possible you may not get your options. The more flexible you are able to be the easier it is for us to be able to accommodate everyone. Please also note on the form if you are tying in with a sibling and what time their lesson is. All those who complete an enrolment form will be sent a text on Thursday afternoon 6th July stating the day & time of their childs next course of lessons starting September.
PAYMENT
Places will be held after reserving a space in a class until the following week to allow you time to make payment. Any spaces that have been reserved and not paid for by Monday 17th July will receive a text to remind them of payment. ANY PAYMENTS NOT RECEIVED BY THE LAST DAY OF THE TERM – WEDNESDAY 19TH JULY WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE CLASS LISTS WITH NO FURTHER CONTACT.
We fully appreciate that some parents with more than 1 child may wish to stagger payments and we are quite open to this option and will readily accept postdated cheques. Please make your intentions known before the end of term if you wish to make alternative arrangements. Otherwise your child will be removed from the class lists and not be expected at lessons the following term. Please note that the preferred option of payment is either BACS or cash. Cost of 14 week course £116.20
HALF TERM
We will run lessons as usual through the next half term Monday 23rd October – Friday 27th October.
SERPENTINE SWIM
Last year I took part in the sponsored swim around the Serpentine lake in Hyde park. This I did to help raise funding for the pool and last year managed to raise over £1,000. I intend to do the swim again this September. If anyone would like to sponsor me then I will have a sponsor form at the desk and would really appreciate your support. All the monies raised goes to help ensure the future of the pool. The pool is charity funded and run totally by volunteers.
RAFFLE
Each year the pool committee organise a raffle in aid of the pool. In each assessment form will be a ticket. If everyone is able to purchase 1 ticket we will be able to raise a significant amount towards the pool. The first 3 prizes are cash prizes which I donate. Please complete the ticket stubb with your details and place in the envelope with money and hand to a member of staff. Alternatively please hand to me at the desk. We will have more tickets available at the desk should you wish to purchase more.
ADULT SWIMMING LESSONS
Phoebes Adult swimming lessons have proved to be very popular. She now has classes available on both a Monday & Wednesday at 8.30 and 9.15pm. If you would be interested in a 6 week course then please speak to us and we will give you further information.
STAFF CHANGES
It is with great regret that Zara will be leaving us at the end of this term. Zara has been working with us for the last 10 years and has proved to be a massive asset to the swim school and her dedication and personality will be missed by all the staff and I’m sure by a number of pupils and parents. Zara has been studying for her masters in social work for the last 2 years, we are very pleased to say that she is now qualified and starts a full time position very shortly. We all wish her the very best in her new job.
From next term Danielle will take over teaching Zaras' classes on a Sunday with Noeleen assisting.
GOGGLES
For quite a while we have had a box of goggles that pupils used to ‘borrow’ and this was left on the side of the pool. These were generally goggles that had been left behind or spare ones that the staff had. At the beginning of this current term we had no goggles left in the box from the previous term so we can no longer offer that option. Any goggles that are found are kept by us and it will be at our discretion that we loan them out to pupils we feel maybe disadvantaged by not using them during their weeks lesson. We will ask for them to be returned at the end of the lesson.
Please do not rely on us to provide your child with goggles. Once a pupil starts to wear goggles (and we recommend them once they start the stroke classes in the deeper end of the pool) it is very difficult for them to go back to not wearing them. Goggles are a personal item that should fit the owners head and eyes. Picking up a pair at the pool that we have is not always advantageous to their swimming.
WEB SITE
Please check the website for up-to-date information including term dates, a copy of the newsletter and the list of all pupils who have received the Certificate of Achievement from each class.
20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
We are pleased to announce that this September we celebrate 20 years of the Kingfisher School of Swimming. To mark the occasion all staff and their families are celebrating on a river boat on the Thames on Sunday 16th July. Due to this we will ot have a fun session on Sunday 16th July but will run an additional hour on Saturday 17th.
FUN WEEK
The last week of term is fun week and your child may come along to ANY one of the sessions listed below on the half hour. No pupil will be able to join in midway between sessions. We will adhere to maximum bather load which means that when we reach 35 pupils in a session we will have to ask those that arrive after that number has been reached to wait for the next session to start (this doesn't happen very often!). PLEASE NOTE THE BUSIEST SESSIONS TEND TO BE THE EARLIEST TIMES
The times are as follows:
Saturday 15th July, First session 9.00am - Last session 11.30am
Sunday 16th July, NO SESSION
Monday 17th July, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
Tuesday 18th July, First session 5.00pm - Last session 5.30pm
Wednesday 19th July, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
May I take this opportunity on behalf of all the instructors and assistants to wish you a very good summer break. We look forward to seeing you all next term.
Best Wishes,
Anne
