NEWSLETTER - DECEMBER 2023
As we approach the end of this current term There are a few things I would like to bring to your attention.
NEXT TERMS COSTS
The cost for the 11 week course nest term is as follows:
1 child - £112.20
2 children £224.40
3 children £112.20 x 3 (£336.60) less 15% discount (£50.49) = £286.11
TERM DATES
The new term will be as follows W/c Saturday 13th – Wednesday 17th January and run for the following 11 consecutive weeks with the last dates of the course being w/c Saturday 23rd – Wednesday 27th March.
We will run lessons as usual through the half term w/c Monday 12th February and the weekends either side.
CHANGING AREAS
We appreciate that the changing rooms can get very busy, and we have taken steps in the past to try and alleviate this issue (staggering lessons, reducing class numbers). It has been bought to our attention that some parents are waiting in the changing area whilst their children are having their lesson and taking up room whilst other parents are trying to change their children after their lesson. Can we please ask that everyone be aware and considerate of each other needs. Please use your car to wait in whilst your child is in their lesson.
CLASS NUMBERS
We have had a few parents asking why there are 8 pupils in a beginner 3 class and only 6 in a beginner 1 and 2. We consider that pupils in the beginner 1 and class need more support whereas in a beginner 3 as the pupils are more capable the lessons run smoother allowing more pupils to work together across the pool on each practice.
In the deeper end of the pool the maximum numbers are 9 or 10. (Split between 2 instructors).
COMMENTS FROM THE INSTRUCTORS
The instructors have asked if you could ensure that your children have been to the toilet before the start of their lesson. It’s possible that they miss valuable parts of instruction if they need to leave their lesson midway.
CHRISTMAS FETE
On Saturday 25th of November the Mencap Society (to which the pool is affiliated) are having their Christmas fete. Please do go and support them if you are able. We receive no funding and keeping charities alive nowadays is extremely difficult. If you can pop in we would be very grateful.
BADGES AND CERTIFICATES
Over the next couple of weeks all pupils will be working towards awards available at the level of their class. If you wish to purchase any certificates, then please go to the desk (after enrolment week) and we can order them for you. Certificates do have to be paid for in advance as we print them. The cost of a Badge and Certificate is £3.50.
WATCHING WEEKS NEXT TERM
First watching week: Saturday 27th - Wednesday 31st January.
Second watching week Saturday 17th – Wednesday 21st February.
WEB SITE
Please check the website for up-to-date information including term dates, a copy of the newsletter and the list of all pupils who have received the Certificate of Achievement from each class.
FUN WEEK
The last week of term is fun week and your child may come along to ANY one of the sessions listed below on the half hour. No pupil will be able to join in midway between sessions. We will adhere to maximum bather load which means that when we reach 35 pupils in a session we will have to ask those that arrive after that number has been reached to wait for the next session to start (this doesn’t happen very often!).
PLEASE NOTE THE BUSIEST SESSIONS TEND TO BE THE EARLIEST TIMES
The times are as follows:
Saturday 9th Dec, First session 9.00am - Last session 10.30am
Sunday 10th Dec, First session 9.30am - Last session 10.00am
Monday 11th Dec, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
Tuesday 12th Dec, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.00pm
Wednesday 13th Dec, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
May I take this opportunity on behalf of all the instructors and assistants to wish you a very Happy Christmas and new year. We look forward to seeing you next term.
Best Wishes,
Anne
