COMPLETING THE ENROLMENT FORM
Over the years we have trialed several ways of enrolling for the following term. This way we believe is the least stressful for our parents and allows us a degree of control over the classes. Last term we had a few customers that were quite frustrated that they got their 3rd option. Can we please ask you to bear in mind the following example:
If we have a class of 9 pupils and 2 pass and the remaining 7 pupils rebook into that same class we only have 2 available spaces. We will offer those spaces firstly to those tying in siblings, preference will also go to those enrolling 3 children. We generally have enough spaces to accommodate all, providing all classes are filled. Last term we did go to 9 on some of the backcrawl classes but had other backcrawl classes that only had a very few pupils. For those in the backcrawl classes of 9 we found that it was not at as positive and this term we will endeavor to keep to 8 pupils in the backcrawl lessons. When putting your options if we are unable to accommodate the times you ask for we will text you on the 16th and offer the classes that we still have spaces in. Please bear in mind that some classes are more popular than others (week days early) and if you list only these times it is quite possible you may not get your options. The more flexible you are able to be the easier it is for us to be able to accommodate everyone. Please also note on the form if you are tying in with a sibling and what time their lesson is. All those who complete an enrolment form will be sent a text on Thursday 16th March stating the day & time of their childs next course of lessons starting April.
PAYMENT
Places will be held after reserving a space in a class until the following week to allow you time to make payment. Any spaces that have been reserved and not paid for by Monday 27th March will receive a text to remind them of payment. ANY PAYMENTS NOT RECEIVED BY THE LAST DAY OF THE TERM – WEDNESDAY 29TH MARCH WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE CLASS LISTS WITH NO FURTHER CONTACT.
We fully appreciate that some parents with more than 1 child may wish to stagger payments and we are quite open to this option and will readily accept postdated cheques. Please make your intentions known before the end of term if you wish to make alternative arrangements. Otherwise your child will be removed from the class lists and not be expected at lessons the following term. Please note that the preferred option of payment is either BACS or cash. Cost of 13 week course £107.90
BANK HOLIDAYS AND HALF TERM
We will run lessons as usual through the next half term 29th May – 2nd June and the 2 weekends either side. We will also run lessons as normal on the 2 May Bank Holiday Mondays.
SWIMMING HATS
We have noticed that some girls who have very long hair do struggle to keep the silicone hats in place. If this is the case with your child then we have been recommending cloth hats we will have a selection of these available to purchase.
ADULT SWIMMING LESSONS
Phoebe started Adult swimming lessons at the beginning of this current term and there has been a great deal of interest. She now has classes available on both a Monday & Wednesday at 8.30 and 9.15pm. If you would be interested in a 6 week course then please speak to us and we will give you further information.
STAFF CHANGES
It is with great regret to us that Louise from the end of this term will be leaving. She has been a massive asset to the swim school and her dedication and personality will be missed by all the staff and I'm sure by a number of pupils and parents. We wish her well in the future in all she does.
It is with delight that we are pleased to announce that both Noeleen and Danielle have recently achieved their Level 2 in teaching swimming.
From next term Noeleen will take over teaching the Beginners on a Tuesday and Anne will take over the stroke classes. Carly who has worked with us a number of times will work opposite Noeleen as an assistant and Nicole with Anne. Molly will assist in the shallow end of the pool on a Monday with Lauren remaining in the deeper end assisting with the strokes.
SUPERVISION OF CHILDREN
Can we please respectfully remind you that your children should be under your supervision at all times apart from when they are with us in the pool. At no time should children be left at the pool un-supervised.
WHILST YOUR CHILD IS IN THE LESSONS
We love to see you delighted with your childs progress (we love to see it too). May we ask that during the lessons you refrain from 'coaching' your child from the poolside as we have found this has a detrimental effect on their learning. If a child is looking to you for a 'thumbs up' or confirmation from you that they have performed well they quite often miss what is being said as their attention is on you and not on what is going on in the class. Praise may also be given (or the opposite!) and maybe controversial to the feedback we are giving which can then lead to confusion. Any comments such as 'kick harder, go faster or beat that person next to you' is really not appropriate during the lesson. Please let us teach and then you please tell them how wonderfully well they are doing after the lesson.
WEB SITE
Please check the website for up-to-date information including term dates, a copy of the newsletter and the list of all pupils who have received the Certificate of Achievement from each class.
FUN WEEK
The last week of term is fun week and your child may come along to ANY one of the sessions listed below on the half hour. No pupil will be able to join in midway between sessions. We will adhere to maximum bather load which means that when we reach 35 pupils in a session we will have to ask those that arrive after that number has been reached to wait for the next session to start (this doesn't happen very often!). PLEASE NOTE THE BUSIEST SESSIONS TEND TO BE THE EARLIEST TIMES
The times are as follows:
Saturday 25th March, First session 9.00am - Last session 10.30am
Sunday 26th March, First session 9.30am - Last session 10.00am
Monday 27th March, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
Tuesday 28th March, First session 5.00pm - Last session 5.30pm
Wednesday 29th March, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
May I take this opportunity on behalf of all the instructors and assistants to wish you a very happy Easter. We look forward to seeing you all next term.
Best Wishes,
Anne
