Please ensure all forms are completed and returned TODAY.
A copy of the new timetable is available either on the notice board or left on the chairs around poolside. A copy is also available to view on the website. All assessment forms will be handed out at the beginning of each lesson. Anyone who cannot return the form on the day should email to the address noted below with the 3 preferred options. The enrolment options MUST reach me before Thursday 7th July 9am. (any received after this day and time I would not be able to guarantee that we could accommodate)
E-mail:
The enrolment form asks for you to give 3 options please bear in mind that some classes are more popular that others and we only have a limited number of spaces available in each class and we are only able to operate 2 classes at any one time. 3 options should be noted and we will do our best to accommodate everyone with one of their options.
Please also note if you are tying in with a sibling and what time their lesson is. Those who complete an enrolment form will be sent a text on Thursday 7th July stating the day & time of their childs next course of lessons starting September.
PAYMENT
Places will be held after reserving a space in a class until the following week to allow you to make payment. Any spaces that have been reserved and not paid for by Monday 18th July will receive a text to remind them of payment. ANY PAYMENTS NOT RECEIVED BY THE LAST DAY OF THE TERM – WEDNESDAY 20TH JULY WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE CLASS LISTS WITH NO FURTHER CONTACT.
We fully appreciate that some parents with more than 1 child may wish to stagger payments and we are quite open to this option and will readily accept postdated cheques. Please make your intentions known before the end of term if you wish to make alternative arrangements so we are aware otherwise your child will be removed from the class lists and not be expected at lessons the following term. Please note that the preferred option of payment is either BACS or cash. Cost of 14 week course £116.20
ASSESSMENT FORMS
You will notice that we have updated the assessment forms we believe that the new format will give you a clearer idea as to what we are looking for within each section of the criteria for each class.
BANK HOLIDAYS AND HALF TERM
We will run lessons as usual through the next half term 24th – 31st October.
COST & THE ORDERING OF BADGES & CERTIFICATES
Over the next few weeks you will be able to order badges and certificates. PAYMENT MUST BE MADE WHEN ODERING. Unfortunately we cannot take orders for certificates without payment. We will print the certificates and have them ready for you to collect the following week. The cost of a badge and certificate is £2.50.
STAFF CHANGES
As from September Louise will no longer be working on a Saturday. Lauren (who assists currently) will be taking over and Danielle (who currently works Sundays) will come and assist with her. As Lauren is very familiar with all the current pupils and has been working with the groups for a considerable amount of time we expect a very smooth transisition. On Sunday mornings we have a new member of staff starting with us who will be assisting with Jan. Her name is Jasmine she is a qualified swimming assistant and she swam for a number of years competitively, she also originally learnt to swim with us :).
SERPENTINE SWIM
At the end of September I will be swimming the Serpentine in Hyde park.
I will be doing this in an effort to raise funds for the pool.
If you feel you would like to sponsor me in this event then please do come over at the desk and add your name to the sponsor form.
Alternatively there is a just giving page www.
Your contributions will be greatly appreciated.
SWIMMING HATS
As we mentioned a couple of terms ago, from September we will be implementing that every pupil has to wear a swimming hat for each lesson. This is a request from the pool committee and we agree that it is beneficial for both hygiene and to keep the hair out of the face during lessons. We intend to operate a colour coded hat scheme Blue for the shallow end pool users and black for the deeper end. ALL pupils (regardless of hair length or gender) will be expected to wear a hat. If a hat is not worn then a pupil will not be allowed to swim. We will keep spare hats at the pool for incidents where hats are forgotten.
We have been able to purchase some hats for purchase at a cost of £3 – these are silicone hats (much more comfortable and longer lasting than latex). If you wish to purchase your own that is fine but please bear in mind they should be either royal blue or black. If a hat is purchased from us when your child is in beginners and they subsequently move to the deeper end classes and a different coloured hat is required if you return the blue one to us we will do a part exchange at a reduced price.
From the start of next term to ensure that staff are not using all the lesson time putting on hats please make sure that your childs hat is on before they come over for their lesson
MALE & FEMALE CHANGING ROOMS
May we please respectfully remind you to make sure that you adhere to the child protection policy of no person under the age of 8 years old go into the changing area of the opposite sex. No mums should go into the boys changing room or vice versa. If your son or daughter needs assistance changing then you should go into the changing room relevant to YOUR gender (so long as your child is under 8). Please be aware that there are older children that we teach.
RAFFLE TICKETS & CAPTAIN FANTASTIC
Enclosed with each assessment form this term is a ticket for each pupil for the pools annual raffle. There are cash prizes for the first 3 tickets drawn and other prizes thereafter. Please bear in mind that the pool is charity run and operates totally through volunteers. Your contribution of a £1 for a raffle ticket would be greatly appreciated. If every pupil buys a ticket as a swim school we could contribute around £500.
We have never before recommended any other type of child orientated business but we are very pleased to enclose a leaflet for "Captain Fantastic" a local childrens entertainment business. If you are considering a party for your child then please do consider them they really are very good and highly rated.
WEB SITE
Please check the website for up-to-date information including term dates, a copy of the newsletter and the list of all pupils who have received the Certificate of Achievement from each class.
FUN WEEK
The last week of term is fun week and your child may come along to ANY one of the sessions listed below on the half hour. No pupil will be able to join in midway between sessions. We will adhere to maximum bather load which means that when we reach 35 pupils in a session we will have to ask those that arrive after that number has been reached to wait for the next session to start (this doesn't happen very often!). PLEASE NOTE THE BUSIEST SESSIONS TEND TO BE THE EARLIEST TIMES
The times are as follows:
Saturday 16th July, First session 9.00am - Last session 10.30am
Sunday 17th July, First session 9.30am - Last session 10.00am
Monday 18th July, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
Tuesday 19th July, First session 5.00pm - Last session 5.30pm
Wednesday 20th July, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
May I take this opportunity on behalf of all the instructors and assistants to wish you a very good summer break. We look forward to seeing you all next term.
Best Wishes,
Anne
