NEWSLETTER - DECEMBER 2016
RE-BOOKING FOR THE JANUARY COURSE:
Those who wish to enrol for the next course, who are remaining at the same level and are happy with the same day and time may enroll at the desk TODAY. If your child has moved level please complete the enrolment form enclosed with the assessment form. If you wish to change time or day please go to the desk and complete an enrolment form. Please ensure all forms are completed and returned TODAY.
A copy of the new timetable is available either on the notice board or left on the chairs around poolside. A copy is also available to view on the website. All assessment forms will be handed out at the beginning of each lesson. Anyone who cannot return the form on the day should email to the address noted below with the 3 preferred options. The enrolment options MUST reach me before Thursday 24th November 9am. (any received after this day and time I would not be able to guarantee that we could accommodate)
E-mail:
The enrolment form asks for you to give 3 options please bear in mind that some classes are more popular than others and we only have a limited number of spaces available in each class and we are only able to operate 2 classes at any one time. 3 options should be noted and we will do our best to accommodate everyone with one of their options.
Please also note if you are tying in with a sibling and what time their lesson is. Those who complete an enrolment form will be sent a text on Thursday 24th November stating the day & time of their childs next course of lessons starting January.
PAYMENT
Places will be held after reserving a space in a class until the following week to allow you time to make payment. Any spaces that have been reserved and not paid for by Monday 5th December will receive a text to remind them of payment. ANY PAYMENTS NOT RECEIVED BY THE LAST DAY OF THE TERM – WEDNESDAY 7TH DECEMBER WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE CLASS LISTS WITH NO FURTHER CONTACT.
We fully appreciate that some parents with more than 1 child may wish to stagger payments and we are quite open to this option and will readily accept postdated cheques. Please make your intentions known before the end of term if you wish to make alternative arrangements. Otherwise your child will be removed from the class lists and not be expected at lessons the following term. Please note that the preferred option of payment is either BACS or cash. Cost of 12 week course £99.60
BANK HOLIDAYS AND HALF TERM
We will run lessons as usual through the next half term 13th – 17th February and the 2 weekends either side.
SWIMMING HATS
We consider that the introduction of the wearing of swimming hats has had a positive effect. Apart from the hygiene benefits and the reduction of hair getting into the pool filters, from a teaching perspective we have found that pupils are less distracted by hair going into their face and also if pupils are wearing goggles they are more likely to remain in place and not slip down the back of the head.
We have noticed that some girls who have very long hair do struggle to keep the silicone hats in place. If this is the case with your child then we have been recommending cloth hats that are available online from Zoggs.
If your child next term is moving from a beginner group to a stroke group then you will need to purchase a black hat. These are available from us at £3.30 (sorry I need to include VAT which I hadn’t before and got reprimanded from my accountant!).
ADULT SWIMMING LESSONS
We have had a lot of enquiries regarding adult swimming lessons and we are pleased to say that next term Phoebe is going to be offering classes on a Wednesday evening from 8.30pm. If you would be interested in a 6 week course then please speak to us and we will give you further information.
MEMBERSHIP
Please note that at the end of this current term the membership fee of £5 per family is due to the pool fund. This can be paid by cash or by a cheque made out to Hillingdon South Society for Mentally Handicapped Children. Alternatively the fee maybe included in the total of your childs swimming fees and paid into my account and I will transfer it to the pool account.
WEB SITE
Please check the website for up-to-date information including term dates, a copy of the newsletter and the list of all pupils who have received the Certificate of Achievement from each class.
FUN WEEK
The last week of term is fun week and your child may come along to ANY one of the sessions listed below on the half hour. Please note that this term there will be no session available on the Sunday but an extra hour is added to the Saturday. No pupil will be able to join in midway between sessions. We will adhere to maximum bather load which means that when we reach 35 pupils in a session we will have to ask those that arrive after that number has been reached to wait for the next session to start (this doesn’t happen very often!). PLEASE NOTE THE BUSIEST SESSIONS TEND TO BE THE EARLIEST TIMES
The times are as follows:
Saturday 3rd December, First session 9.00am - Last session 11.30am
Monday 5th December, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
Tuesday 6th December, First session 5.00pm - Last session 5.30pm
Wednesday 7th December, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
May I take this opportunity on behalf of all the instructors and assistants to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you all next term.
Best Wishes,
Anne
