PAYMENT
Places will be held after reserving a space in a class until the following week to allow you to make payment. Any spaces that have been reserved and not paid for by the end of the current term will be taken off the registers unless contact has been made BEFORE THE END OF TERM and a method of payment has been agreed.
We fully appreciate that some parents with more than 1 child may wish to stagger payments and we are quite open to this option and will readily accept postdated cheques. Please make your intentions known before the end of term if you wish to make alternative arrangements so we are aware otherwise your child will be removed from the class lists and not be expected at lessons the following term. Please note that recently the bank has put up costs quite substantially for cashing cheques. If possible paying over the internet via BACS or paying cash is a preferred option.
STAFF CHANGES
We are pleased to announce that Danielle will be starting with us from January, she is Louise's sister and is qualified. Danielle will be assisting Jan on Sundays. Nicole will be moving to work on a Wednesday assisting Anne and Lauren will assist Phoebe.
MEMBERSHIP
At the end of this term the membership of £5 per family is due. This is an entirely separate fee from the swim school and payments go directly to the pool fund to assist with the upkeep of the pool. Any cheques should be made payable to: Hillingdon South Society for Mentally Handicapped Children although we do have a stamp!
BANK HOLIDAYS AND HALF TERM
We will run lessons as usual through the next half term 15th–19th February.
COST & THE ORDERING OF BADGES & CERTIFICATES
Over the next few weeks you will be able to order badges and certificates. PAYMENT MUST BE MADE WHEN ODERING. Unfortunately we cannot take orders for certificates without payment. We will print the certificates and have them ready for you to collect the following week. The cost of a badge and certificate will now be £2.50.
SWIMMING HATS
From the start of the April course it will be necessary for all pupils at the swim school, regardless of gender or length of hair, to wear a swimming hat.
This is a decision made by the pool committee who are acting on advice from the health and safety executive. We can see the benefits ourselves and anticipate having black hats for the shallow end swimmers and blue for the deep end swimmers. This will give clear distinction on what pupils should be in what end of the pool.
The hats will also keep hair out of the way of the pupils face during swimming which can be a hindrance during lessons. Hats also assist in keeping the hair dry.
To be able to implement this with ease and to get the correct colour and type of hat we are going to add £5 to the April terms fees to include the cost of a silicone hat which will be handed out once payment is made.
If you pay via BACS then please go to the desk to collect a hat at the end of next term once payment has been made.
If payment is not made before the end of the term then you will be able to collect a hat on week 1 of the following term, however please be aware that all pupils should be wearing their hat at the start of each lesson.
When a pupil moves from the shallow end of the pool to the deeper end of the pool if they hand in their current hat we will issue a new one free of charge.
Other members will then have the option to purchase a 'used' hat at a reduced price if one is lost or broken.
No pupil will be able to swim without wearing a hat from April – we will of course keep spares available.
CHANGE OF TIMETABLE FROM JANUARY
Please see the timetable on the notice board at the pool or on the website for changes to next terms timetable. Any pupils currently in classes that may have been changed can re-book on the day the assessment form is received.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Over the last term we have set out terms and conditions of the swim school these are available to read on the website. You will be asked to sign the detail card to say you agree to the terms and conditions.
WEBSITE
Please check the website for up-to-date information including term dates, a copy of the newsletter and the list of all pupils who have received the Certificate of Achievement from each class.
FUN WEEK
The last week of term is fun week and your child may come along to ANY one of the sessions listed below on the half hour. No pupil will be able to join in midway between sessions. We will adhere to maximum bather load which means that when we reach 35 pupils in a session we will have to ask those that arrive after that number has been reached to wait for the next session to start (this doesn't happen very often!). PLEASE NOTE THE BUSIEST SESSIONS TEND TO BE THE EARLIEST TIMES
The times are as follows:
Saturday 5th December, First session 9.00am - Last session 10.30am
Sunday 6th December, First session 9.30am - Last session 10.00am
Monday 7th December, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm
Wednesday 8th December, First session 5.00pm - Last session 5.30pm
Thursday 9th December, First session 5.00pm - Last session 6.30pm *
May I take this opportunity on behalf of all the instructors and assistants to wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. We look forward to seeing you all next term.
Best Wishes,
Anne
